WORKING SESSION OF HON. JOKATE U. MWEGELO AT MARUI MNGWATA VILLAGE
On 23/02/2021 Kisarawe District Commissioner Hon. Jokate U. Mwegelo has made a working visit to Marui Mngwata village which is famous for its lemon crop. Mh. The District Commissioner has convened a meeting to announce the official start of the agricultural season in all parts of Kisarawe district.
In addition, Hon. Jokate listened to the challenges facing farmers;
1.Education on agriculture Farmers apply for agricultural education so that they can produce enough produce, farmers have admitted that if they are given enough education they will be able to produce more.
2. Market demand in Marui Mngwata village The people have asked Mr. Jokate market to avoid speculators.
3. Road Improvement Citizens have asked for the road to be improved to make it easier to transport produce from the field.
4. Farm invasion. Farmers have complained before Hon. The district commissioner in relation to the invasion occurred in Mkuranga District, so they have asked for boundaries to be set to indicate the end of the syllabus and the Beginning of Mkuranga to avoid invasion of farms.
Marui Mngwata village leaders cited some of the achievements including;
1. Allocation of three acres per citizen to clear wild farms.
2. Solidarity between teachers and students in agriculture, Marui Mngwata village students interact with teachers and this has helped increase food production for students.
Mr. Jokate was accompanied by agricultural experts who provided clarification and answered some questions from farmers, also agricultural experts provided credit reports to smallholder farmers from NMB.
Ms. The district commissioner listened to the challenges of the people and told them that he would solve them quickly to make Marui Mngwata a hub for crop production, in addition to promising to re-communicate with TARURA regarding roads. He also urged officials to visit Marui Mngwata village for regular education and to deny the reason for travel being a barrier for professionals to reach the villages.
He also encouraged farmers to work hard. Good use of money and good revenue collection for the village as there are some people who are willing to pay taxes.
